Government Museum Complex, Chennai

The Government Museum Complex in Chennai is a hub of human history and culture. It is located in the neighbourhood of Egmore.

The complex has both old and new sections. Some of the sections in the museum are as old as 1851. Among them, the colossal Museum Theatre is one of the most impressive.

The National Art Gallery, Government Museum, Bronze Gallery, Children Museum are present in the complex.

There are several Cannons at the museum complex.

The fossil trunk displayed here is about twenty million years old. Tree carried by rivers were deposited inland lakes and were transformed into fossil tree trunks by silica replacing the woody matter.

Morning Rajesh,
this complex looks like a place we would enjoy visiting, so much to see and so much history to absorb. The head of the cannon is very interesting.
Happy MM.

The theater is the round, red building? It looks great.

It looks like a classic old building. We don't have cannons around here, but we do have some huge fossilized tree stumps that I'll be posting about in a few weeks!
